Autograph Letter Signed ('C.L. Dodgson') to Mrs [Alice] Mallam, wife of James Thomas Mallam, 1 pages 8vo (oblong,), Christ Church, Oxford, 13 March 1897. Explaining, with regret, that she had hit upon the one day on which he was otherwise engaged (with his young friend Enid [Gertrude] Stevens.
Dodgson had invited Mrs Mallam to dinner, partly to introduce her to the place where her daughter, Ursula, had been invited for a visit.
