DEBUSSY, Claude (1862-1918). French composer.
Autograph Letter Signed on a letter-card to [Régine] Dansaert, 1 page 8vo (a little soiled), 17 September 1899. Writing from the café Reynolds about a joint venture, and sending warm greetings to Régine's sister-in-law, his friend René Peter.
Régine Dansaert, née Loewenstein, was a playwright married to the banker Jean-Baptiste Florimond Dansaert. This letter refers to l'utile aventure, a stage work which Réne Peter wanted to put on, perhaps with the help of Emile Chautard (1864-1934), the director of the Gymnase and later a film-actor in America.
See the Correspondence 1872-1918, ed. Denis Herlin (to whom we are grateful for an accurate transcript which accompanies the letter), Paris 2005, pages 516-517.
