HALEVY, Jacques Fromental (1799-1862). French composer.
Brief Autograph Letter Signed, 1 page small 4to, Paris, 9 May 1859. Asking Mr ?Lesley [?Boosey] to send to Monsieur Panseron the cantate Héroique that he had composed in 1819, the year in which Halévy had won the Prix de Rome.
Halévy is presumably referring to the composer and teacher Auguste Panseron, 1795-1859. Two months after the date of this letter Halévy, Auber, Thomas, Monnais and Baron Taylor were to carry Panseron's coffin, following his death from a respiratory infection.
