Long Autograph Letter Signed to Halévy (not Jacques Fromental), 4 pages 8vo, 220 Rue de Rivoli [Paris], 29 April 1889.
Asking Halévy to convey to the Commission his regret that he will not be standing for election; explaining that his work for the exposition and his duties at the Conservatoire and the Institute were keeping him very busy; and promising to stand the following year if his health should allow it.
