'As it is very strange for me suddenly for a period of two weeks to receive no further proofs at all for volume 6, I request you in future in similar cases where typesetting has been held up to send me an explanantion of this in just one word, as otherwise waiting in vain day by day I necessarily make assumptions which at times can contain some element of anxiety. ...'
Wagner is referring to volume 6 of the Gesammelte Schriften und Dichtungen, whose publication he was supervising. This volume was to appear on 20 September.
