RUBINSTEIN, Anton (1829-1894). Russian pianist and composer. Autograph Manuscript Signed of Rapelle-toi, of Ten Songs, op 83, no. 1, 4 pages folio (oblong) including title, ca 1869. Worn and frayed, especially at the edges, with old repairs, but a fine and evocative working manuscript, evidently used by the publisher and bearing his markings. The titlepage is boldy signed and titled in German by the composer. There are three systems to a page (voice and piano accompaniment). The first page of music is inscribed A Madame la Princesse de Bariatinsky née de Bouténieff, and the author of the text is identified as as Alfred de Musset. The text is in French with the German translation written within or above the vocal part, the bars numbered by the engraver in the blue pencil with the plate number in red. [No: 22725] The image shows the fourth page only. The image links to a larger or more detailed version.
