MACREADY, William Charles (1793-1873). Actor. Autograph Letter Signed to G. Pryne, 2 pages 8vo (traces of former mounting), 5 Clarence Terrace, Hyde Park, 2 March 1842. Thanking Pryne for the information he has sent ('I trust I shall not be called upon for my defense of the course I have adopted, but your communication very much dimishes my concern upon the subject'). Macready is less effusive about Pryne's suggestion on Shakespeare. However he promises to act on it 'when I can trust in the readings of an audience to receive one of his plays in its original completeness'. [No: 22708] The image shows the first page only.
