Expressing regret that absence from Paris would make it impossible for him to join a committee being organised for the erection of a statue to the memory of Georges Bizet. With a translation. Gounod regrets also that he would be unable to be associated with his illustrious colleagues, Ambroise Thomas (with whom he had been a pall-bearer at Bizet's funeral) and Ernest Reyer, in the project.
