![]() CHERUBINI, Luigi (1760-1842). Italian composer. Autograph Letter Signed in French to 'Mon cher Vinit' (presumably Louis Auguste Veny, known as Vinit, a professor at the Paris Conservatoire), 1 page 8vo, with address-leaf, no date. Asking him to postpone the meeting of the Conseil des Compagnies, which would clash with a public meeting of les quatres académies à l'institut. With a full translation. A letter evidently written in connection with Cherubini's role as director of the Paris Conservatoire, a post to which he had been appointed in 1822 and which he held for twenty years. As is evident from the content, he took his duties very seriously. Veny / Vinit, who had won his premier prix in 1819, served as professor of oboe from 1839 to 1844. [No: 22525]
