COLLINS, William Wilkie (1824-1889). Novelist.
Autograph Letter Signed to the publishers Williams and Norgate, 2 pages 8vo (small nibble from one corner), 90 Gloucester Place, 19 December 1877. Asking them, as agents for the German publisher Tauchnitz, to send him the appropriate customs form to enable him to receive six copies of 'a new work of min immediately to be published in Leipzig'.
'... I will return the form to you, signed - taking a copy previously, so that I need not trouble you on the next occasion.'
It is not clear to what work Collins refers here. The Two Destinies. A Romance was published by Tauchnitz in 1876, but the British Library catalogue does not record any further work appearing from the same publisher in 1877.
