DODGSON, Charles Lutwidge (1832-1898). 'Lewis Carroll'. Brief Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Rivington, probably of the family of publishers, 1 page 8vo (perhaps slightly trimmed at the top, laid down on an album leaf), no place, no date. In dark ink, before Dodgson took up the use of the more familiar purple ink. 'I fear I must put off the Iffley expedition for a few days.'Iffley is a village on the outskirts of Oxford. It seems unlikely that this letter is to John Alfred Rivington (artist and sometime vicar of Bladon). It appears to be unpublished (not in The Letters of Lewis Carroll, ed. Morton N. Cohen, 1979). [No: 22496]
