FRANKLIN, Jane, Lady (1792-1875). Wife of the explorer, Sir John Franklin.
Autograph Letter (third person) to Mr P.L. Simmonds, 1 page 16mo on black-edged paper, 5 Park Place, St James's, 18 November 1862. Concerning the purchase of a cabinet.
'... Lady Franklin ... begs to state that she will take the Cabinet at the price proposed & wishes to know how & where to convey to him the amount in case she shd not see today Mr Milligan with whom she hopes to be able to leave it.'
The correspondent is presumably Peter Lund Simmonds (1814-1897) the author of 'Sir John Franklin and the Arctic Regions', published in 1852 (and re-issued in 2005).
