Photograph by Studio Edmark of Oxford, signed on the reverse and inscribed, together with an Autograph Letter Signed of 1½ pages 8vo, Steeple Aston, Oxford, 1 November no year. The photograph is approximately 105 x 80 mm (4 x 3 inches), a head and shoulders portrait of the brooding novelist. The accompanying letter thanks the recipient, Hans Roest, for his 'absolutely charming letter'.
