LAWRENCE, T.E. (1888-1935). 'Lawrence of Arabia'.
Autograph Letter Signed ('TE Shaw') to Flight Lieutenant W.E.G. Beauforte-Greenwood, 2 pages 4to, Hythe, 15 January 1932. A detailed and technical description of his work on the newly introduced motor boats.
'... It has been difficult, & sometimes disappointing, but now I prefer it to the independent gear & throttle control of the old boats. I think its sweeter & simpler control will much more than make up for the slight extra complexity of fitting, & for the cost. ...'
Flight-Lieutenant W.E.G. Beauforte-Greenwood was head of the Air Ministry Marine Branch. He was responsible for introducing high-speed motor-boats to the RAF, and for Lawrence's work in that field.
