GRANT, Ulysses S. (1822-1885). Eighteenth President of the United States. Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs Pope, 1½ pages 8vo, Hotel Bristol, Paris, 7 November 1877. Announcing that he and Mrs Grant would be going to the opera the following evening and would be happy to take with him 'the young ladies' and return them to their hotel afterwards. After the end of his second term of office on 3 March 1877 Grant spent two years travelling around the world.
