Rodney sends Grenville a turtle from the West Indies

RODNEY, George Bridges, 1st Baron (1719-1792). Admiral.
Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Grenville, presumably George Grenville, the former prime minister, 2 pages 4to, endorsed as received 23 July 1765. Rather damp-stained and brittle. Sending an unusual gift, and assuring Grenville (if indeed George Granville, at this time treasurer of the navy) of Rodney's esteem.
'... Though I may be thought a bad Courtier, yet I pride myself upon being a sincere friend, and as such, must beg you will favour me with the acceptance of a fine Turtle just sent me from the West Indies.
You cannot oblige me more than accepting this small token of my Regard, as it will convince me you think I love the private man equal to the Minister when invested with the Amplitude of Power ...'
