MOORE, G[eorge] E[dward] (1873-1958). Philosopher.
Autograph testimonial signed, ½-page 4to, 86 Chesterton Road, Cambridge, 24 April 1935. A certificate for Miss Ambrose, in her second year at Cambridge, suggesting that she was deserving of a further year in her Studentship.
Letters and documents written or signed by Moore, one of the most important philosophers of the twentieth century, are quite rare on the market. He disliked his forenames, and throughout his academic life was known simply as Moore, although his wife called him Bill. The present document is signed 'G.E. Moore', the style by which he is now perhaps best remembered.
