HAYDON, Benjamin Robert (1786-1846). Historical painter.
Autograph Letter Signed to W. Harvey, probably William Harvey (1796-1866, wood-engraver and book illustrator), 1 page 4to, 14 Burwood Place, 23 March 1846. A very late letter, written only a few weeks before Haydon's suicide on 22 June 1846.
'Where is Miss Robinson & Miss Porter? Will you give me their addresses.'
The entry in Haydon's diary for this day displays an unusual degree of optimism, but gives no clue as to the background to the present letter [See The Diary of Benjamin Robert Haydon, ed. Willard Bissell Pope, Vol V, page 526].
