CANNING, George (1770-1827). Prime Minister 1827.
Autograph Letter Signed ('G.C.') to an unnamed correspondent, 2 pages 8vo laid down by the blank leaf, Gloucester Lodge, 17 April 1817. With an engraved portrait. Explaining that he had immediately forwarded a letter to Mr Arburthnot.
'... It is owing to my having forwarded it as I received it, that (I suppose) I forgot to acknowledge it. Your note of Sunday reminds me that I have not heard from Mr At. in reply. I flattered myself that silence in this case was not only consent but performance. ...'
