Autograph Letter Signed in German, to Wilhelm Posse in Berlin. 1 page 8vo, with original envelope. Tuesday evening, 20 May 1884.
'Without paying any attention to reports of any kind, I welcome you in advance to Weimar for the next "Tonkünstler Versammlung [Musicians Meeting]" on the day after tomorrow.'
The annual Meeting of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Musikverein took place this year from 23 to 28 May; distinguished foreign visitors included Saint-Saëns and Pauline Viardot. A photograph of the attendees, with Liszt in the centre and Posse (a harpist) at the left of the front row, is printed in Burger, Franz Liszt (Princeton, 1989), p.298.
