Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent, 2 pages 8vo (laid down on card), St Barnabas, Pimlico, 26 July 1849. Declaring himself unable to help monetarily, casting doubt upon matters at All Saints, and asking that Dr Dilke be informed that he cannot be relied upon.
'... People at the higher ranks only look upon a Newspaper as a source of amusement. They have no idea of it, as a weapon of war or defense. They have read the Despatch. They have not heart to feel its mischief. ...'
