Series of ca twenty admission tickets for the Zoological Gardens, various sizes, all but one 1833 where dated. The tickets are written by members on various scraps of different sizes, a few on pre-printed forms.
Among the signers are the Duchess of Cleveland, Thomas Hooker, Charles Knightley, George Perceval, Lord Rolle, Lord [John] Russell, Henry Southey, Lord Tenterden, The Dean of Westminster, and Sir James Williams.
The London Zoo was founded in 1828 and housed a collection of exotic animals for study by scientists and members of the Zoological Society (and evidently their guests). It did not open to the public until 1847.
