Autograph Letter Signed to Herr H.J. de Backer, 2 pages 8vo with envelope, 17 Hanover Terrace, Regent's Park, 16 January 1926. Thanking the de Backers for an invitation, but regretfully declining on the grounds of his age and ill-health.
'... It is many years since I was in Arnhem, and it would be delightful to see it again under your hospitable auspices. But my age (I am in my 77th year) and my health do not permit me to travel any more ...'
