PALEY, William (1743-1805). Theological writer.
Autograph Letter Signed to his son Edmund (1782-1850 - his father's biographer) at The Queen's College, Oxford, 1 page 4to with address-leaf, Lincoln, 23 March 1805. Sending money and fatherly advice, and adding news, probably of two of Edmund's brothers.
'I inclose you according to your desire a bank note of 5l. Knowing that with respect to your tutors you must be governed by the usage of the college, I did not think of writing to them; and have only to repeat to you the advice I before gave, to be duly attentive both to them & their lectures ...'
Shortly after leaving Lincoln Paley became ill. He died at Bishopwearmouth on 25 May.
