MONET, Claude (1840-1926). French impressionist painter.
Autograph Letter Signed to Gustave Geffroy, 1 page 8vo in characterstic purple ink on black-edged paper (slightly chipped), with envelope, Giverny, 19 September 1911. Arranging for a visit on the following Thursday from Geffroy and Vaquez. and urging them not to be too late.
'... je compte sur vous pour faire le possible pour ne pas arriver trop en retard, recommandez le à Vaquez.'
The art critic Gustave Geffroy was particularly close the the Impressionists. He was to be the author of a study of Monet Claude Monet, sa vie, son temps, son oeuvre, (1922). Louis Vaquez (1860-1936) was an eminent and pioneering physician, specialising in diseases of the blood and blood vessels. He was also a collector and art patron, most notably of Vuillard.
