BABBAGE, Charles (1792-1871). Inventor of the mechanical calculating machine.
Brief Autograph Letter Signed to R. Cooke, presumably Robert Cooke, John Murray's assistant, 1 page 16mo (some soiling), 4 June 1852. Sending a note from Clowes (?the printer).
'... You can have any of all of the logs [i.e. logarithms?] remaining.'
Babbage produced his Table of Logarithms of the Natural Numbers from 1 to 108000 in 1827, having devoted great care to its preparation. The present letter probably refers to copies remaining with the printers.
