'Sir Jos: Banks is sorry that his intire Ignorance of the Language of Medecine renders him unable to state the effects of the eau medicinale on his Constitution with the accuracy Required for medical use ... .'
Banks is known to have derived considerable benefit from what he describes as 'a French irregular medicine called l'eau medicinale' for his gout.
