MOLESWORTH, Mrs Mary Louisa (1839-1921). Writer for children. Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs Walford, 3½ pages 8vo, 19 Sumner Place, Onslow Square [blind stamp], 27 June no year. A protracted apologia for some supposed social ineptitude. '... I was rather puzzled as to whether you knew me or not! At first I tried to "identify" myself to you by some allusion to having brought two daughters after all - but just then you were very much taken up, & afterwards my children assured me that our name was very distinctly announced, so I scarcely liked to try again. ... I know by my own experience how very confusing it is for a hostess to speak to everybody. ... I had to leave early not to risk missing the train ... for I was due at the Working Women's College at 7.30 to give away the annual prizes. ...' [No: 20872] The image is of the third page only.
