VERDI, Giuseppe (1813-1901). Italian operatic composer.
Attractive Autograph Note Signed, 1 page 8vo with blank leaf, no place, no date (probably 1890-1893). Suggesting that the soprano Emma Zilli should be engaged to sing at La Scala and that a packet should be delivered to her there.
Emma Zilli was the creator of the role of Alice in Falstaff, a character to whom Verdi attached particular importance, remarking that she 'must have a touch of the devil in her' (J. Budden, Verdi, page 137; G. Gatti Verdi, pages 450-451).
