HERBERT, John Rogers (1810-1890). Portrait and historical painter.
Good Autograph Letter Signed to his fellow painter [Richard] Redgrave, 3 pages 8vo (lightly laid down), Norwich (as from Great Yarmouth), dated in another hand 1850. Giving his approval to a report, describing his sojourn in Great Yarmouth, and asking whether they should allude to their membership of the Royal Academy in public documents.
'... Yarmouth is flat and dull beyond every thing, but the sea & the effects upon it are marvelous. I counted a hundred and sixty brigs & schooners making their way through the Roads the other day. ... I have returned to this place in the hope of getting a little sketching. ...'
