EASTLAKE, Sir Charles Lock (1793-1865). Artist. President of the Royal Academy.
Autograph Letter Signed to [?David] Roberts, 1½ pages 8vo, 7 Fitzroy Square, 28 June 1853. Discussing a picture on commenting on its condition.
'... Surely it has been cleaned since it was in your room, it is much out of harmony now. I should not be inclined to estimate it very highly & for myself would not give more than £100 for it. I should be glad however to have the owner's lowest price as I think I may have an opportunity of recommending it to some who are not so nice about the state of a picture as I am.'
