('Dear Sirs'), 3 pages 8vo (recipient's endorsement stamps in two places), Lymington, 20 November 1908. Hoping that the orchestral parts [of the First Symphony] had arrived safely. The first performance took place shortly afterwards on 3 December in Manchester, played by the Hallé orchestra. It was dedicated to Hans Richter, who conducted the premiere.
