'... I am established at the above address for good now as I have bought the long lease of this house. I got down to Astley a good deal during April and never saw the country more beautiful.
You know Buckle is married again, and Evelyn is to be married next Saturday (or Saturday week) to a man named Fletcher who is something in the City.
... My life here is politics, business, and a certain amount of play. My eldest girl is out and full of the enjoyment of life.
It is all very difficult to realise.'
