HAIG, Douglas, 1st Earl Haig (1861-1928). Field Marshal. Good Autograph Letter Signed to Field Marshal Sir Evelyn Wood ('My dear Sir Evelyn'), 1 page 4to, General Headquarters, British Armies in France, 25 November 1918. Written very shortly after the armistice of 11 November 1918 which ended the first world war, and probably referring to the arrangements for release or demobilisation thereafter. '... We will do all we can here to let M.F.H's go, but the real decisions and the order in which the various categories of people are allowed to be released rests as usual with War Office. ...'
