Autograph Letter Signed to Lord Reay (Donald James Mackay, 1839-1921, 11th Baron Reay), 2 pages 8vo with blank leaf, 10 Downing Street, 8 March 1884. Regarding the office of the governorship of Victoria, which Reay appears to have declined.
'... I may perhaps say that from your point of view I can perfectly understand the answer you have made, and I rather believe it to be the right one. ...'
Lord Reay was to become Governor of Bombay the next year.
