Elgar sends the manuscript of a new movement

ELGAR, Sir Edward (1857-1934). Composer.
Autograph Letter Signed to his publishers, Novello and Co., 1 page 4to, Plas Gwyn, Hereford, 23 August 1908. Sending (under separate cover) the manuscript full score of the third movement (Adagio) of his Symphony [No 1 in A flat major, opus 55].
The Symphony No 1 was composed between 13 June 1907 and 25 September 1908 and was first performed by the Hallé Orchestra at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester on 3 December 1908. The composer was naturally anxious that the score should not go astray:
'... I shld be much obliged if you will kindly send me a telegram [underscored in blue by the recipients] immediately on its arrival.'
