With a good impression of Cromwell's seal. Appointing George Lankefourd to be a surgeon in the army. With an engraved portrait by Peter Drevet after Vander Werff. 'By virtue of the power and authority to me derived from the Parliament of England I do hereby constitute and appoint you Chirurgion to that Regiment of Horse whereof Collonell Thomas ?Sanders is Collonell. ...'The document is headed with Cromwell's style and title: Oliver Cromwell Esq Lord Lieut Generall of Ireland and Captaine Generall of all the Land forces of the Parliam[en]t of the Com'on wealth of England'.
