|POTTER, (Helen) Beatrix

Autograph Letter Signed ('Beatrix Heelis') to Barbara Rolfe, 4 pages 8vo (rather soiled and faded, old tears professionally repaired), Castle Cottage, Sawry, 6 June 1934. Advising her about holiday or camping accomodation for Girl Guides in the Lake District.
'... I am always glad to try to help about holidays - it grieves me this year how many Guides I have had to refuse because they all want sites the first week of August.
I have handed your letter to Mrs Jackson, Yew Tree, Coniston, it would be a splendid centre for walking, and it is on the bus route between Coniston - Skelwith Bridge - Ambleside. Only she has her rooms booked over the 1st September. I don't know any cottages here which could take in 8 or 10. Mrs Jackson would do you well, I don'think you could do your own cooking though, at Yew tree, as there is just the large farm kitchen & a lot of cooking going on.
If that comes to nothing, I could inquire at Elterwater where there is a sort of guest house started. ...'
