Autograph Letter Signed ('Charles Darwin') [to William Robertson (1838-1935)], 1 page 8vo with integral blank (a little dust-stained), Down, Beckenham, Kent, 4 January 1876. Thanking Robertson for his gift of copies of The Garden.
'I am much obliged for your kind gift of six copies of the "Garden", with a drawing of myself & a notice of my works. This notice is drawn up in the most generous spirit & is highly honourable to me. I thank the writer very sincerely ...'
William Robertson was under-gardener of the Royal Botanical Society, Regent's Park, from 1861 to 1867, and the publisher of various gardening periodicals.
