BADEAU, Adam (1831-1895). American army officer.
Autograph Letter Signed to Major Sniffen, 2 pages 8vo (the blank leaf neatly inlaid), Consulate General of the United States, London 3 December 1877. Thanking him for a letter and 'the interesting number of the Tribune', which he had forwarded to [Ulysses S] Grant in Nice, and congratulating Sniffen on his appointment in the army.
'... All letters for [Grant] coming to my care have been forwarded; and doubtless yours with the others. I don't know that it will ensure their transmission any more exactly, but if you choose to send any others under cover to me, I will myself redirect them.
I was very glad to hear from Gen Porter, and then again from Gen Grant of your appointment ... They both speak very kindly of you.'
