WILDE, Oscar (1856-1900). Wit and dramatist. Autograph Letter Signed to [Walter] Crane, 1 page 8vo, 16 Tite Street, Chelsea, undated [1887/8]. Thanking him for his 'charming design and for Beatrice's poem', which he promises to reproduce immediately. Together with the issue of The Woman's World which contains the poem within Crane's elaborate framework. The poem, entitled Legend of the Blush Roses was the work of Crane's daughter, Beatrice, written while she was still quite young. For publication, Crane has made an elaborate border of roses and copied the poem in his customary printed hand. Crane, in collaboration with Jacomb Hood, illustrated Wilde's Happy Prince and Other Stories, and was an occasional correspondent of Wilde's, though there is no indication that this letter has been published. The issue of Woman's World accompanying the letter contains articles by Olive Shreiner, Lucy Garnett and Amy Levy as well as the editor himself who writes on Literary and other notes.
