CLODD, Edward (1840-1930). Banker & writer. Autograph Letter Signed to [Geoffrey] Besant, 1 page 8vo, (filing-hole), Aldeburgh, 23 May 1923. Promising his support ('I will write to Thomas Hardy to urge him to do all that lies in his power'). Geoffrey Besant, son of Walter, was applying for the position of Assistant Secretary of the Incorporated Society of Authors, which his father had founded and of which Hardy was President.
