Thanking him for inviting the quartet, but regretting that he will be in Italy and then England. The Joachim Quartet was founded in 1869 and was regarded as a leading ensemble for nearly forty years. In 1880 its personnel were: first violin, Joseph Joachim; second violin, Heinrich de Ahna; viola, Emmanuel Wirth; violincello, Robert Hausmann. [No: 0324]
