It is astonishing how often this letter is mistaken for the real thing. It is crudely reproduced in black printing ink without any differentiation between the heading and the text. The two pages (we show only the first) are adjacent for ease of printing, although Queen Victoria wrote 'back to back' in the modern manner. The letter is clearly addressed to the many thousands who contributed to gift she received on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee.
