RACHMANINOFF, Sergei (1873-1943). Russian composer and pianist.
Fine large studio portrait photograph, signed and inscribed on the mount, 430 x 295 mm overall (17 x 11½ inches, the photograph 9 x 7 inches), 1918. A fine full-face photograph signed by Waldm. Eide of Stavanger, Norway and inscribed by the composer in ink to 'Fred W. Jacobsen / zur freundlichen Erinnerung / an / Serge Rachmaninoff / 19-X-18'.
Rachmaninoff and his family had fled Russia soon after the October Revolution using a concert tour to Stockholm as their pretext. He moved to America at the end of 1918.
