DICKENS, Charles (1812-1870). Novelist.
Autograph Letter Signed to Dr Percy, 1 page 8vo, Gadd's Hill, 28 December 1868. Reporting that he has returned Sir John Hay's paper to him, explaining that 'I fear it is too technical and special for presentation to a large circle of readers'.
Dickens was editor of All the Year Round, an immensely popular journal in which much of his own work, as well as that of new writers, was published.
 Sir John Hay may be Admiral Sir John C D Hay (1821-1912), who published naval articles.
