SULLIVAN, Sir Arthur (1842-1900). Composer.
Autograph Letter Signed to Ingram, 3 pages 8vo, 47 Claverton Terrace, St George's Road, 8 March 1869. Complaining of overwork and fatigue, and informing Ingram where his works can be obtained ('My part songs are eight in number, to be had of Novello').

'... I wish to goodness I could do what you so kindly ask & run down to you for a day or two, but is is now impossible. I am going to Sir F[rederick] Ouseley's in Worcester for a few days on Thursday just to get a litttle strength & transact a little business & then I come back for the hard grind of the season. ...'

Sullivan had met Sir Frederick Gore Ouseley (1825-1889, composer) at the age of 14 when he was studying at the Royal Academy of Music as a Mendelssohn Scholar. Ouseley organised a large choir to mark the dedication of St Michael's College, Tenbury at which Sullivan' unbroken voice sang the treble part.
