VERDI, Giuseppe (1813-1901). Italian operatic composer.
Autograph Letter Signed to Giovanni Maloberti, 1 page 8vo with the envelope laid down on the otherwise blank second leaf, 'Sabato', postmarked 20 October 1875 (a Sunday). Asking Maloberti to procure two pictures for him, although he has reservations about them. With a translation and transcript.

'Saturday / Dear Maloberti
The landscape would be fine if it weren't so heavily retouched, and so dark.It's impossible to get it in a good light.I don't much like the battle scenes, but nonetheless, if the price is 70 lire for the pair I will keep them. I shall be passing through Piacenza in a few days' time and I will settle up with you for everything then. But if you need the money straightaway, write to me.Don't send me any more things - I'd only send everything back without unpacking the objects [a couple of words of greetings illegible].'
