Email about this entry
Two Autograph Letters Signed to [Luigino] Franchetti, in all 3½ pages 8vo, New College, Oxford (one from the Warden's lodgings), 26 April and 26 June 1913. Sending a stern warning that Franchetti is to 'make a solomn promise' not to lead his visiting brother astray. The second letter backtracks, congratulating Franchetti on his first and wishing him a successful musical career. '... If you will send me back my letter to your father I will rewrite it & leave out the parts to which you object, but I want him, as I want you, quite clearly to understand that I consider you responsible for the good behaviour of your brother in every respect while he is your guest in Oxford. ...'Franchetti did indeed have a successful career, as a distinguished pianist. £125 [No: 25140] The image shows the second letter only. |
