LISTER, Joseph (1827-1912). Surgeon. Founder of antiseptic surgery.
Autograph Letter Signed to Sir Archibald, 1 page 8vo on black-edged paper with blank leaf, 12 Park Crescent, Portland Place, 1 April 1898. Inviting him to join Lister at a dinner for the retiring Italian ambassador at the Athenaeum on Friday the 29th.
Probably to Sir Archibald Geikie (1835-1924, geologist and historian). Lister had been elected to the Athenaeum in 1878 and Geikie in 1881.
